Regency Garden Building Ltd have been manufacturing quality buildings for over 25 years and we would like your building to be a useful addition to your garden. We believe these few points will ensure that it is an asset for many years to come.
We ask you to bear in mind that timber is a natural product that needs care and maintenance and that it is subject to naturally occurring changes, which we have no control over. Both temperature and humidity can result in some movement to both the timber and the roof coverings.
A good quality, durable polyester roofing felt is supplied on all of our buildings. There may be some movement or rippling after installation, this is mainly due to the fluctuation in temperatures. This is beyond our control and is not detrimental to the building or the roofing felt in any way and should settle down after a short period of time.
We only use the finest European softwood and Canadian Western Red Cedar you will not find any chipboard or sterling board which is associated with inferior buildings in any of our products.
All of our buildings come supplied with everything you need to construct it which includes, felt, glass, screws and nails.
All playbuildings are supplied with perspex. Toughened glass on all buildings except the Popular Range which are supplied with horticultural glass as standard although safety glass is available as an optional extra.
If you are looking at purchasing a building with an exterior timber cladding of Western Red Cedar please be aware that they are constructed with softwood internal framing, softwood roofs and softwood boarded floors with tanalised floor joists.
You may also notice, due to the nature of Cedar, Variations in colour shading, which cannot be avoided. All buildings in our range are supplied with a basecoat which is applied by totally immersing each section in our quality spirit based treatment ensuring penetration on all sides. Many other manufacturers use water based wood preserver, this is a product Regency will not use.
Roof sections are additionally protected by green polyester felt on all buildings. With the exception of our popular range all our floors are supplied with tanalised floor joints as standard.
Any building larger than 10’ (3050mm) on any side will be manufactured in more than one piece for ease of access and transportation.
Should you find a design you like but one of our standard sizes may not fit your space, then don’t worry normally we can adapt one to fit. Our team of joiners can not only make special sized buildings, they can produce a non-standard building to suit your needs, so take a sketch with sizes to your local stockist for a quote.
We also offer a full range of optional extras which can be fitted to most of our buildings. These include double doors, verandahs, heavy-duty floors, special size doors, stable doors, extra height, heavy-duty framing, Western Red Cedar cladding, deluxe cladding, extra windows, toughened glass, opening windows, red, grey, black or green mineral felt tiles, cedar timber roof or cedar shingles.
Consideration to siting a building is nearly as important as the building itself so take time to ensure that the site for your building is correct. Things to consider would be proximity of boundaries which could affect planning, the position of the sun if you wish to maximise natural light. To ensure the longevity of your building we do not recommend that trees or shrubs overhang the building.
It is essential that the base and foundations are correctly prepared for your building as failure to provide a suitable base could affect both the operating of the doors and any opening windows. We would recommend the base is at least the minimum size of the building ordered, to ensure stability of your building the base must be firm and level.
There are three main options, a concrete slab, a flagged area, concrete or timber bearers. Gravel or any similar substance is not recommended.
You should also consider allowing space around the building for both installation and maintenance work e.g. Re- treating annually with Regency Golden Oak wood preserver or similar product.
ls it possible to get the building in its section form to the installation area?
check for any restrictions, obstacles or bends that will prevent access of the timber sections including height and width as most sections will not go through a standard size door.
We can manufacture in smaller sections if required at an extra cost.
To maintain the quality and appearance of your building we recommend that you regularly oil the ironmongery e.g. door and window hinges and to re-treat your building annually.
The original colour treatment, Regency Golden Oak can be obtained from your local stockist.
If your building is installed in damp conditions please ensure you leave adequate ventilation until the building is dry.
We take great care when painting your building to achieve the best results & finish. Please be aware that knots will show through the paint (more so on light colours). This is a natural process and cannot be avoided.
We cannot guarantee against this happening even though the paint system we use does include knot inhibitors. All of our painted buildings are treated internally with Regency Golden Oak wood preserver.
The modern paint system we use has been developed to allow resin exudation (on softwood) and tannin (staining in cedar) to raise to the surface and weather naturally.
